Frequently Asked Questions

All the photos are digital. I take about two hundred photos during the photo session. Later, I review all the photos and pick out the best 40-60 photos. I choose the best photos from the variety of poses taken and try to capture the personality and love of your family. I edit these to perfection, removing drool, red marks and blemishes. All photos are then placed in colour and Black & white and placed on disc. You receive:

3. What is your style?

My style is simplicity. Although I do have some props and encourage you to bring whatever you like, my preference is for photos of just the child or children. I favour babies in the buff or just blue jeans and white t’s (I will send you suggestions of what to bring after we make the appointment). I have a black background and a white background so the child is the main focus of the photo. I tend towards “artsy” photos and I adore close ups. And while I have plenyt of my own ideas, I love to hear your ideas as well

4. How do I make an appointment?

Please email me for a quick response; phone messages are not the best way to reach me. I work Thursdays and every second weekend. Saturdays (9am 11am 1pm 3pm) Sundays (10am 12pm 2pm) but I try to be flexible with my time. These times are dependant on my personal schedule and may change at any time.

When children are the focus please pick a time that is optimal to their mood. During the appointment there will be time for feedings and cuddles so feel free to bring snacks and drinks. I leave 2 hours for the shoot but I do book shoots all day, so there is a time limit. Please keep this in mind and if you are going to be late please phone me to let me know. As well if you are going to be early please phone as I probably am still with a client or I am cleaning the studio and I am not ready for you.

If you could let me know whether you prefer a weekday or a weekend and what time makes sense to you I will then send you available dates/times. Weekends book up about 6 weeks in advance, as well when I send out dates these are the same dates I send everyone and they are filled on a first come first served basis.

Please keep in mind I have my own family and when I can't take you it is because I am spending time with my family.

9. Where can I get them developed?

You can take your CD and develop them at any photo store. I recommend Photo Expert at Scottsdale Mall in North Delta. You can view the photos at your leisure on your home computer. Photo Expert can do everything online including payment and mailing your photos to you

10. Do you take photos of pets?

I understand your pet is a valued member of your family but my studio is not set up for pets. Out of respect for families who are allergic to animals I like keep your pets inclusion in the photos to a minimum. If you believe that your pet can handle coming for a few photos and then waiting in the car for the remainder of the photos to be taken then by all means bring your pet. Please advise me if you are interested in bringing your pet.

13. Do you do outdoor shots?

Absolutely. Outdoor shots are best taken when the weather is a little more dependable. Cloudy days are best to avoid strong shadows. Beaches and parks are great. There is a $0.45 charge per kilometer for shoots outside the North Delta area. If you are interested please ask for samples to be emailed to you.

14. When is the best time to come?

Maternity Photos - shoots are best booked between 33 and 37 weeks. However I have taken photos mere days before the baby is due and all went well. If having the photos are important then book at least 6 weeks before you are due.

Newborn photos – These photos are best taken in the first 2-3 weeks simply because the baby is more likely to stay in the fetal position better, but when you are comfortable coming is also important. Also there is no point in booking Newborn photos early, as they do not come when predicted. Simply contact me as soon as you are able after having the baby and we will make arrangements that suit us both.

Babies – any age is good but being able to hold their head up adds variety to the shots, as well for slightly older babies being able to sit by themselves is very beneficial. Crawling and walking babies are slightly challenging but you are able to get more genuine photos of their wonderful personalities.

Special Occasions - If you want photos for a special occasion please book at least 3 weeks in advance in order to receive the photos back in time. If you want photos for Christmas photos please book in late August as these appointments are popular and I want to make sure you receive a time and date that suits you best. I stop taking photos at the end of November in order to have the photos back to you in time for developing for gifts. If you need to mail the photos please take that into account and add 3 weeks.

15. Can I buy a gift certificate?

Absolutely. Gift certificates make wonderful baby shower and Christmas gifts and can be personalized. Also, if you would like to contribute payment towards a session for family or friends this can be arranged as well. Please let me know who the certificate is for and who it is from. Gift certificates are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
